Wide Range of Evidence-Based & Non-Invasive Treatments for hyperpigmentation

There are many types of treatments for reducing skin pigmentation today, most of which are non-invasive and have been certified safe and dermatologically tested.
At our dermatology clinic, we provide the following types of treatments:
  • Prescription Creams
  • Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
  • Laser Therapies
  • Chemical Peels
Treatments are tailored to the needs of the patient based on a careful and detailed analysis of the problem.

It is important to obtain an accurate diagnosis of the pigmentation as specific therapeutic strategies are needed to address each of the diagnoses. Seek dermatological advice for a customised treatment plan for your condition

Preventing Pigmentation

While there are effective treatment methods to lighten pigmentation, prevention of hyperpigmentation and maintenance of the improvement after treatment are paramount. The importance of judicious protection of the skin from excessive sun exposure during outdoor activities cannot be over-emphasized. Sun-smart habits are vital for the maintenance and longevity of hard-won improvements post-treatment.

3 Tips To Remember:

Avoid or Minimise Sun Exposure

  • When outdoors, use sunscreen generously and make sure it is at least SPF 30
  • Make sure you use a broad-spectrum sunscreen that blocks both UVA and UVB rays
  • Reapply sunscreen every few hours when swimming or exercising outdoors
  • Avoidance of outdoor activity during the hours between 10am and 4pm
  • Wear a long-sleeved top with long pants/skirt, a wide brimmed hat and sun glasses to protect the skin

Avoid Picking at the Skin

Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation can be minimised if you do not pick at pimples, spots and scabs. Allow the skin to heal as optimally as possible.

Maintain a Healthy Diet & Lifestyle

A diet replete with different types of fruit and vegetable of various colours and shapes paves the way to good skin health. Foods that are rich in anti-oxidants give your skin the needed boost for fighting pigmentation. These include papaya, pomegranate, berries, grapes, tomatoes and egg plant.
Regular exercise, sufficient rest and avoidance of smoking and excessive amounts of alcohol are well-known components of a healthy lifestyle.
With over 20 years’ experience treating pigmentation, our dermatologist will be able to accurately identify the cause and type of your pigmentation for more effective treatment planning.
